These badges serves as records of student achievement. Using the Mozilla open badge infrastructure specification students can choose whether or not they want their achievements to be private or public.
Badges are used by a large number of groups and organizations thus promoting the use of badge network in all educational levels.
Badges allows individuals to take control by choosing where they want to earn their badges and who will be able to see them.
As institutions are sensitized on the badge system they will most likely put aside the traditional books and lecture pedagogy and pick up this new multi know stream.
